During February and March the timber framework for the second floor was erected and the timber I-beams that support the upper level floor were installed. A key milestones was reached with the installation of the James Hardie’s Secura Sound Flooring to the first floor.
The Gen Y Housing project is one of the first projects in WA to use the latest innovation in Scyon™ flooring materials. Secura™ Sound has been designed to provide a solid feeling under foot and prevent irritating sound transfer that can be experienced with timber flooring and concrete slab. The material is fast and easy to install, making it a great product to work with and its cement based composition provides strength and durability that will stand the test of time. One of the amazing benefits of Secura™ Sound is the ability to apply any floor finish to the top side without diminishing its outstanding acoustic performance, something that can't be achieved in other lightweight flooring materials where carpet is often the only option.
