Inner city living now a walk in the park

LandCorp today has called for offers from prospective developers to purchase and develop up to three lots in Stage One of the long awaited Parkside Walk in Jolimont.

Parkside Walk is a prime piece of underutilized land in the Western Suburbs, located on Salvado Road, between the Wembley Sports Park and Henderson Park.

Stage One, the Central Precinct, will be adjacent to the planned central public open space, and is expected to yield up to 142 apartments at a maximum of six storeys.

LandCorp chief executive Frank Marra said developers will be able to purchase any or all of the three lots totaling 6,274sqm.

“This is an unmissable opportunity for developers to create a new community on highly desirable land in close proximity to the established suburbs of Wembley, Subiaco and Floreat,” Mr Marra said.

“This infill development will feature a diverse range of modern housing and apartments and will help reinvigorate one of Perth’s most well-established inner city suburbs.”

Mr Marra said that residents at Parkside Walk will enjoy all the benefits of inner city living, wonderful parkland surrounds and a diverse range of modern housing options.

“Great schools, universities, shopping facilities, restaurants, parks and beaches are all nearby and will be drawcards for people of all ages.”

“This is about ensuring people have choice and diversity in how and where they live, and creating vibrant and connected communities with access to established infrastructure.”

Mr Marra said when complete, Parkside Walk will comprise of up to seven apartment sites and 24 single residential lots yielding up to 350 dwellings.

“The development will also enhance pedestrian and cycle access between Henderson Park, the Wembley Sports Park and the wider Jolimont area as well as supporting the growth of the nearby Wembley Town Centre.”

Mr Marra said this urban regeneration project is being developed by LandCorp, on behalf of the WA Government and the Town of Cambridge, on the site of a former nursery on Salvado Road. The prime location is bordered by Henderson Park, Wembley Sports Park and Mabel Talbot Park.

“This site has been empty since the early 2000s and the development is a great example of the local council working in partnership with the State Government to create a new and vibrant community.”

“We want to work collaboratively with local governments to ensure we are able to meet the challenges of population growth which will see our city catering for 3.5 million people by 2050.
