The Real Challenge - WINNERS!

Introducing the Real Challenge Winners

Many regional households are facing rising costs because their homes could have been better designed and built to cope with local climate conditions.

The REAL Challenge (Regional Environmental Affordable Living) was conceived to encourage architects, designers and builders to develop new climate responsive housing designs suited to Western Australia's diverse climatic conditions, without the price often associated with architectural innovation.

Our expert panel of judges short-listed the best designs, and then community members were invited to vote for the home design they believed exhibited the best features.

Two of the winning designs have been built in LandCorp's Lakeside Park estate in Kununurra, and in our Buckingham Way estate in Collie.

The Kununurra Winner, the K1, was designed by SIA Architects and built by Northern Aspect Construction.

The Collie Wing House was designed by Copraxis Architects and built by Samson Homes.
