For over fifteen years, LandCorp has worked to ensure the availability of suitably zoned and buffered heavy industrial land in the Mid West.
The State Government has invested over $30million on environmental investigations, planning and land acquisition to secure the site located 23km north of Geraldton in the Shire of Chapman Valley.
The land, which was rezoned in 2004, provides for a 1,134ha Strategic Industry Area for heavy industry, two General Industrial Areas, totalling 196ha, for support industry and a Buffer of more than 4,000ha.
This work has provided a major strategic asset for the State, with the potential to accommodate industry that can process minerals sourced in the Mid West. The Strategic Industry Area is adjacent to the proposed Port Area which will allow for the import and export of a range of minerals and products through a deep water port.
Oakajee’s success will come as a result of the public and private sectors working closely to achieve benefits for the growing population of the Mid West for decades to come.
We have prepared the Draft Structure Plan in close collaboration with State Government departments, agencies, local government authorities and the community to help realise the State Government’s vision for a globally competitive port and industrial estate.
