Located 650km north-east of Perth on the Great Northern Highway, the Mid West mining town of Cue is known as the 'Queen of the Murchison'.
The scene of a gold rush during the late 1890s, Cue was the centre of the Murchison Goldfields with a population of around 10,000.
The town was named after Tom Cue, who discovered gold in the area in 1892.
Voted WA’s Tidiest Town in 2007, Cue is an absolute delight, boasting some of the grandest old buildings to be seen anywhere in rural Western Australia.
Walga Rock is a huge granite monolith situated 48km west of Cue. Offering spectacular views, the rocks contain a gallery of important Aboriginal art. The most unusual of these depicts a sailing ship in white ochre with masts, rigging and portholes – an amazing specimen given the site is over 300km inland from the sea.
