Claremont North East Precinct

The redevelopment of the area known as Claremont North East Precinct (NEP) will provide a mix of residential and commercial opportunities connected by public transport, with a redevelopment of facilities benefiting the local community.

The 9.4 hectare site is located on the northern side of the Claremont railway station, bounded by the railway line, Graylands Road, Davies Road and Lapsley Road. The site comprises the existing Claremont Football Club, the Town of Claremont council depot site, the Police and Community Youth Centre (PCYC) and surplus railway reserve.

The redevelopment will include a rebuild of the Claremont Football Club facility to incorporate a number of commercial opportunities. The Claremont oval will remain as an active sporting facility. A medium to high density residential development will be built around it featuring apartments and some townhouses, as well as some commercial and retail space.

The structure plan was prepared under the Town of Claremont’s leadership and endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission in June 2010. Preliminary works are expected to start in early 2011, with main civil construction in 2012.

The redevelopment supports the State Governments Directions 2031 framework to meet the needs of Perth’s growing population. Under the Activity Centres policy, Claremont has been indentified as a secondary centre.

The Government has nominated LandCorp as the implementation agency and to take the lead role as developer responsible for land development, subdivision and sales.
