Project History

Consultation Process

LandCorp undertook a comprehensive community consultation program in the second half of 2003 to keep local residents informed and involved in the planning of the Rockingham Waterfront Village.

The consultation program built on previous consultation by the City of Rockingham which resulted in the development of a preferred plan for the area.

A range of feedback mechanisms and communication activities were utilised, such as public displays, newsletters and initiation of a project information line to ensure the community had input into the development of the Rockingham Waterfront Village.

Community consultation also involved the formation of a Community Reference Group (CRG), which provided ongoing input into refining the draft structure plan.

The Outcome

In February 2004, the City of Rockingham approved the draft structure plan for Rockingham Waterfront Village. A Scheme Amendment was then initiated to appropriately rezone land to mixed use / residential under the Council's Town Planning Scheme (TPS).

Indicative Development Plan

In December 2004, LandCorp and the City of Rockingham signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise its partnership in progressing the project.

The MoU is a key tool in implementing the Rockingham Waterfront Village and clearly defines each partner's responsibilities in progressing the project.
