Putting the sustainability plan into action requires delivering a more sustainable type of land development.
As the Western Australian Government's specialist land and property developer, LandCorp has a responsibility to demonstrate more sustainable practices. This is being achieved through working with industry and community - using knowledge sharing, partnerships, co-operation, education and demonstration.
LandCorp is principally a project management agency, which means it can determine and direct the project's outcome but does not do the actual work. This is undertaken by consultancies such as planners, engineers, architects, surveyors, community and environmental consultants etc.
A new way of preparing the business case for new projects has been developed that ensures sustainability targets are written into the project at the earliest stages.
Sustainability assessments of current projects are under way to determine the type of criteria included in project development and the degree of success of the initiatives.
By developing the necessary resources and tools that give guidance to achieving more sustainable outcomes, as well as installing the capacity and willingness to do so, LandCorp's project managers will be able to direct and support the consultancy team to deliver better results.
