Project Overview
Scale
Covering 115 hectares, the estate is expected to include up to 1000 lots in a range of sizes. Ultimately, a population of about 3,500 will live here. This will attract businesses to the area and support many facilities and services.
Timeframe
Land first became available at the multi-award winning Harvest Lakes in November 2002 and each new release has been eagerly anticipated.
The estate has been exceptionally popular with buyers wanting quality land within easy commuting distance of the CBD.
Community
Harvest Lakes benefits from excellent transport infrastructure. The estate is close to the Kwinana Freeway and is within easy commuting distance of the Cockburn Central station, part of the Southern Suburbs Railway.
Travel by car to Perth is estimated at 20 minutes along the freeway.
Harvest Lakes is also within easy reach of Fremantle and its wide range of entertainment and recreational facilities.
There are excellent community facilities within the City of Cockburn and these will be enhanced by the current development of the nearby Cockburn Central regional town centre.
Within Harvest Lakes there is also a range of community facilities. Fittingly, for a GreenSmart estate, Harvest Lakes incorporates the State's first primary school specifically developed to ecologically sustainable design initiatives. Harvest Lakes also boasts Australia's first community and environmental centre specifically built to sustainability principles.
Lot sizes and configurations within the estate have been designed to support the growth of a diverse community and include the provision for mixed use.
Environmental
Natural attributes, such as existing wetlands and a tree-covered ridge have been incorporated into the design of Harvest Lakes.
GreenSmart benchmarks have been adopted for both land development and buildings. We have fostered the use of appropriate environmental site management techniques in developing the residential estate, maximising the number of lots orientated to suit energy efficient and climate responsive home design.
We have also worked with builders to promote waste management and recycling materials.
Energy efficient design, solar orientation, ventilation and insulation form part of the mandatory sustainability components of all homes within Harvest Lakes.
