Patients from Shenton Park Hospital have now been transferred to the newly developed Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch.
But while the hospital has been relocated, the significance of the site as a place of healing will be respected and will allow for the interpretation of the historical elements into the future use and fabric of the site. Community feedback has indicated a desire for strong links to the site's history to be retained. Working with a heritage specialist and local residents and interested stakeholders, DevelopmentWA will reflect the historical detail of the Campus through the development of a heritage interpretative strategy.
Changes on site
To secure the site and limit vandalism, damage, theft and unauthorised access of buildings, fencing has been installed around the perimeter of the site and private security patrols are underway.
For safety reasons, it is essential that only authorised visitors access the site. If residents notice any suspicious activity on site, they are asked to contact police on 131 444.
