What is RDAP?

Our Regional Development Assistance Program (RDAP), with funding support from the State Government, helps Local Authorities build communities across Western Australia.

Established to address the sometimes prohibitive costs associated with development in regional WA, which can make them unviable for private developers, it also frees up land supply in areas where the supply of privately developed land is often limited, or non-existent.

Through the RDAP, the State Government provides funding to deliver regional projects which are essential in supporting revitalisation and growth of regional towns and centres. Potential projects are assessed against established criteria outlined in the submission guide which will lead to buit-form outcomes by a third party participant.

Under the RDAP, local authorities can apply to DevelopmentWA for assistance to progress potential land development projects in their local government areas.

How to apply for an RDAP Project

Local Government Authorities can use the online application form. Please complete as thoroughly as possible as the more information you provide, the greater chance of project approval.

Where possible, please include maps, land tenure information, servicing access and capacity as well as approval requirements.

Remember to include a Council resolution in support of your RDAP application.

Additional supporting information that should be included is:

  • Letter(s) of support from Regional Development Commission(s) or other government agencies
  • Extracts from regional economic blueprints
  • Evidence of authority or agreements with DPLH for the use of the land if the development area is Crown land.

Get to know the Wheatbelt

Like the rest of Western Australia, areas of the Wheatbelt are experiencing unprecedented growth and demand for residential and industrial land. With the population predicted to increase to 118,000 by 2031, land supply for the future will be critical.

The construction of Indian Ocean Drive will serve as a catalyst for growth in coastal Wheatbelt towns from Ledge Point through to Jurien Bay. We are planning for this growth by identifying key parcels of land throughout the region for future development.

Say g'day to the Midwest

The Midwest is a booming area in Western Australia, with estimates indicating by 2026, the region will be the fourth most populated in the State. The main driver of this growth is the resources sector, although the region’s diverse economy is also being built around agriculture, fishing and tourism. Plus, with an increasing desire for coastal living, there has never been more pressure for residential and industrial land in the Midwest.

In close partnership with local governments, the community and other State Government agencies, we provide quality land to meet population needs and provide for future growth. We’re working to deliver development opportunities that will bring social, environmental and economic benefits to the region.
