LandCorp CEO Ross Holt said the award was testament to the long-term vision of the State Government which delivered the project over successive governments.
“LandCorp and our partners in the AMC, in particular the Department of Commerce, are especially proud of what we’ve achieved,” Mr Holt said.
“The AMC has contributed enormously to the prosperity of Western Australia by supporting four major industries which have grown significantly since the AMC’s inception.”
The AMC, located at Henderson, was developed to enhance Western Australia’s marine, defence, resources and oil and gas industries by providing land and infrastructure and clustering these industries to create opportunities based on their natural synergies.
It comprises four precincts, Technology, Shipbuilding, Support Industry and Fabrication, which also includes the AMC Common User Facility – an economic powerhouse for the State.
“The AMC’s Common User Facility has made an enormous contribution to the WA economy of more than $400million since opening nearly seven years ago,” Hr Holt said.
“It’s facilitated the assembly of some of the State’s most significant resources infrastructure projects which have been delivered to the furthest reaches of WA.
“The Support Industry Precinct, which has provided a base for specialist industry businesses to set up shop right next door to most of their major customers, is also a tremendous success story and is now home to more than 130 companies.”
Key judging criteria for the award included project vision and innovation, corporate social responsibility, quality of design and finish, adaptability, user satisfaction and industry perception and operation and maintenance.
“The AMC has been managed through robust design guidelines and we have built-in sustainability features to rehabilitate bushland and wetlands creating an industrial facility that is sympathetic to the area’s natural environment while creating an invaluable asset that will cater for the needs of major industry for decades to come,” Mr Holt said.
Mr Holt said it was an honour for LandCorp to have two of its landmark projects recognised with Enterprise Park, located at Wangara, also a finalist in the Industrial Development category. |
